We...Live!

It’s a little embarrassing for us to have the last blog post we wrote on our site be from six years ago! We’ll have to speak to our marketing department. Oh…that’s me. Well, the first thing I’ve done is wiped the old posts. They’re pretty irrelevant at this point; if you miss them you can always go to Archive.org.

The fact is, we’ve never been marketers and we’re never going to be. The reason why our blog goes for years at a time without being updated is that we spend a lot more time developing software for our clients than promoting ourselves.

We haven’t been idle, though. Over the past six years that the blog has been silent, we’ve been building new cross-platform apps in Kotlin; creating a Websockets-based realtime reporting system that can support thousands of users with almost no server load; making a client’s full-text search an order of magnitude faster with an embedded search engine; experimenting with self-hosted agentic AI on consumer hardware; and even teaching our intern to program a PDP-8 minicomputer.

Not everyone gets interested in working on those sorts of things, and usually if you’re talking to them you can tell. But here at Parthenon we hire for those who are not only already skillful software developers, but are also passionate about improving their craft a little more every day. It’s what differentiates us from virtually everyone else in our little corner of the industry.

I hope to share some of our work in more depth with you soon. Maybe it will give you some ideas of what’s possible with custom computing. Maybe you’ll end up clicking the Contact Us button on top and telling us a little about what you’d like to build and how we might be able to help.

But even if you’re not planning a project, I still look forward to sharing some of the things we do with you. Because I love what we make.
